True North can run any of our survival, medicine, and land navigation offerings as a private class, or we can customize a program as needed, from a 1-hour workshop to a team building session to a 1-week course.
True North has a lot of experience working with a wide variety of organizations, from youth groups, to private business, search-and-rescue teams, hospitals, and the military. We can help you or your staff to more effectively assess and manage risk, as well as prepare to better respond to medical emergencies.
Our True North instructors are available to offer a lecture to your group or organization. We have had the privilege of working with a wide array of organizations and companies, and whether the audience is large or small, we strive to meet your particular goals and needs.

True North has a lot of experience working with a wide variety of organizations, from youth groups, to private business, search-and-rescue teams, hospitals, and the military. We’ve run workshops for UPMC Children’s Hospital and trained Army ROTC cadets. Organizations like the Boy Scouts of America and North Country Trail Association have asked us to work with their teams because they appreciate that leading others in the outdoors, whether children or adults, involves a level of responsibility that extends far beyond just providing a fun and exciting trip.
True North can help you or your staff to more effectively assess and manage risk, as well as prepare for and better respond to medical emergencies. This is one important reason why the Boy Scouts and the American Camp Association now require Wilderness First Aid certification in many cases. This way, you or your staff will be ready to respond to an outdoor emergency, or, better yet, avoid one altogether. Our training will also help your organization’s outdoor leaders to become better teachers.
Yes, we consistently provide specific training for both individual candidates and units in both the military and numerous law enforcement agencies. We’ve worked with most branches and ranks. Many are in an SOF or leadership pipeline, like Special Forces (18X), Ranger, OCS, BOLC, and WOCS, while others are preparing for CAG selection. We also provide instructor development to combat training groups and special mission units.
No experience whatsoever is required for any of our courses, basic or advanced. Just make sure to bring your sense of adventure and positive mental attitude! Whether you have only car-camped or hiked the Appalachian Trail, we are confident that you will find our courses a terrific learning experience. No matter what, we are all students - including our instructors!
